For anyone who has taken the plunge into the Rift I am looking to add some friends to my Oculus Rift friends list. You can look me up by either my real name or my handle "Depco". At this point I only am for sure aware of Gerry having a rift. I looked up his name and Oculus said no person by that name.

I'm not sure if I ever completed my registration to the Oculus app.  Seems like I may have gotten as far as having to create a PIN number?  Or just after and it was asking me a lot of questions and too involved, I just wanted to get to playing with the device, not all this Facebook get my inf to sell virtual paperwork sh*te.  ;D  If had created a handle or username it would be lotus23bsr.
I'm at work now but I'll look into it tonight and see if I completed the reg. process and see if I can find you.
Gerry

I also have the problem of my wheel being in the way of my Hotas :p My wheel is firmly attached to my rig so I have no option to move it out of the way. I have tried placing my hotas on my narrow keyboard plate, not an ideal solution.

Yes, that does sound precarious.
I have wanted for a long time to design and build a real sim racing rig with an actual racing seat and a nice frame made out of 8020 components and away to easily swing the hotas into position and back out the way when not being used.  Just need money and time  :)
I am going to retire in a year so maybe I'll have time then LOL.

I'm at work now, but I'll "friend" you when I get home.
I'm pretty sure I'm "Ibby003" in Oculus.
My replacement cable arrived and my Rift is back up and running.
Just bought Talos Principle VR. Haven't fired it up yet, but looking forward to it.
Besides the realism of car racing, sometimes VR is nice just to "get away" into a virtual world and relax!

If you like easy going puzzle games try Xing. It is really fun.

The Pimax is actually 2x 4k screens. The "8K" is a marketing gimmick. But it has 200 degrees of view, so thats nice. Also there is no positional tracking. I see the company either selling the tech to one of the 3 major players.

Hey Chad and Jerry (and others with a Rift),
Have you downloaded "Air Car" yet?
It's a free demo. Pretty cool simulation of flying around a city in an air car... reminds me of Blade Runner.
No game, just a demo, but it's pretty neat!

I have seen it. But I have not yet downloaded or tried it. I've also seen the bladerunner2049 experience. I saw the first one but I haven't actually tried the second installation.

I just completed obduction. It is developed by the same development company that brought you Myst and Riven. I probably put in somewhere around 12 to 15 hours. But if I had to go through and do it again I could probably complete it in 6 or so. Completely worth the price of admission for the game. I also really enjoyed the Solus project and The Gallery: Call of the Starseed Episode 1. Also if you can get Wilson's Heart. That was another pretty enjoyable puzzle Style Adventure

If you haven't figured out by my list of games I really enjoyed puzzle Style games

I really liked Myst and Riven, especially the music.  They were hard though and I often got stuck and had to refer to a walk thru to get past quite a few of the puzzles.

So I was going to download Obduction, started reading some of the reviews in Steam and it looks like there was a lot of dissing the game play.  Load times between scenes was really slow.  Something about you have to "transport" a lot in the game and that would take forever and I guess in some levels you had to transport quite a bit to solve the puzzles.

That kind of turned me off from trying it, maybe I'll check it out again.
Gerry

in the later stages of the game the teleporting can get kind of tedious, especially the final large scale puzzle. But even with that annoyance the game was a ton of fun to play and I found myself looking forward to getting back to the game to continue where I had to leave off. I had to check a walkthrough once to figure out where to go after I had solved a section, but other than that logical thinking should get you through the remaining puzzles and areas.

Quick question out of curiosity. I tried the Steam VR test thingie to check whether my system (gtx1060 6GB) is suited for VR. It said that is ok for VR. I believe that the demands for rFactor2 might be higher than for that test. What do you guys think; how would it perform?
I'm not really considering doing VR at the moment, but if a great deal passes by, I might be tempted to try it.

My specs are amd fx8320 Over clocked to 4.0 Ghz and an amd r9 290 4GB video cars. It runs rF2 vr fine for me. I suspect a vr snob might find the occasional dips in FPS to be a problem but they don't bother me one bit. I think going back to a flat screen for me wold feel like a step backwards, even if I could have better graphics. The immersive feel of vr trumps pretty visuals. There should be Black Friday and cyber monday deals for the rift package at $350. At that point if you have the coin I wouldn't hesitate to pick it up.

Overhere black friday deals are becoming more and more popular, but it's not the same as in the states. But if it's not now, there are general sales in January.
In general, my first upgrade would be brakes. I really want to go for load cells.

I believe you can also find the Rift on sale for US $350.00 on Amazon on Cyber Monday. Not sure if the EU version of Amazon has the same deal or not.

Hey All :), I picked up a Rift recently too (£370 in UK). Interesting reading all your comments. I have similar PC spec to you Gerry (i7-4770/GTX970) and was worried about performance but it's not too bad as asynchronous projection kicks in when it dips below 90FPS. Ideally want to keep it above 90 but just not possible with this GPU. Tried fiddling about and optimising graphical settings. 1.3 supersampling is the most I can go to without killing FPS. The immersion is pretty amazing but I have problem with motion-sickness too. Can do about 2 hours max before feeling unwell.
