Unfortunate Events
« on: June 11, 2017, 06:30:51 pm »
Due to the series of unfortunate events i seem to have in 70% of the races we have, I'm going to drop from the Series.
Seems im pretty fast when im alone on track but as soon as i have cars around me i struggle, after todays road america its just the final straw for me.
basically i just need more practice!

sorry for the incidents ive caused, I've ruined a few peoples series, i find it so embarrassing  :-[

Thanks for letting me race with you for the past 7 races ive really enjoyed it.

maybe i'l sign up for one next year when i can maybe learn to drive.

I'l still be around and about on server for practicing and what not, because your a top bunch of lads here and its been a pleasure getting to know you all.

peace out  :(

Stevo

Sorry to hear that :/

We've all been there. Sometimes there are hard times. You are clearly a talented driver and know how and want to race clean. There is no better way to learn than practice with real people. Every race is different, just need that right mindset for close racing which you surely have.

I have felt you are good fit to the group. Maybe take a brake if you feel overwhelm but surely retiring from racing won't do anybody any good. I believe others agree.

In order to win you need to be willing to roll the dice.

I wouldn't leave, stick around.  That's how you learn.
Like Simon says, don't cost anything to crash and I say it is just a game  ;D

The fact that you took the time to write this shows that you have the right mindset... which is to make sure everyone is having fun.
Looking forward to seeing you blow past me on the servers.

Stevo don't stop racing. You're not helping anyone by not attending least of all yourself. If you were in my time zone I'll be happy to work with you. It's just hard because of the huge gap. Today you probably just didn't have enough downforce. Which probably wore your rears sliding. You were plenty fast and competetive and it's nice having you here. Don't quit.

Thanks Michael,  just im a liability man so far ive almost taken Chad out at Magny Cours, got tangled with Tech G at Rouens, destroyed Matt Palla at CTMP, destroyed Chad at Road America, wrecked Zombie also, lord knows who else ive ruined along the way, all this in just 7 races??? Im not going to give up, i just need to get more practice. every race ive practiced more than anyone, go into every race (except malaysia) with high hopes n good intentions and just end up feeling like **** after the race.

Hey Stevo I also don't wanna see you go, though I know you said it would just be for the races.

It's clear you have superb pace, but are a bit uncomfortable in traffic. What I might suggest is instead of practicing really hard for those extra few tenths which will be useless for the race, practice enough so you're quick then switch to consistency and tuning your setup for the race. Go til you can turn out many consecutive laps at very similar times without mistakes (a second to second and a half off your fastest time consistently would be killer pace).

I also really enjoy practicing passing and being passed or being defensive. If I see you out for practice I'm down to do some battling and I know Tom, Michael, Chad etc are all down too. It's good practice and great fun. Otherwise AI are imperfect but can be useful for this too. I used to be petrified of racing vs other humans but now it's more comfortable and fun once I got some more practice and confidence.

Cheers man!

I agree with the other guys, you should definitely not stop racing.  As you know we had an issue in a previous race and I never have a problem with the incidents themselves, accidents happen, but how we react and whether we are willing to take on board the advice is what can make all the difference.

I have only been sim racing for just over a year and can still remember my first couple of seasons where I was in a few to many accidents, but I was always quick to apologize and take on board the advice i was given.  I also watched a lot of videos on race craft and general racing etiquette.

Bottom line the easiest way to get better is to be involved in more close racing battles, so I really hope you stick around.

One thing we did in one of the other leagues I raced in was some pack racing during practice, where we all bunched up on track.  This might be something that could help, but its best if everyone is also on TS.

Stevo literally everyone you mention is on my list of people I owe wrecks to. Just take it off my credit card. I'm buying you back in mother f******!

Chad, Matt. I still got a tab running for you guys so don't think you're off the hook.

Jan makes an excellent point. Focus on your own ability and don't worry about anyone else pace. Your car went out today simply due to downforce. No reason you should have spun. You qualified and raced up front. You're doing fine. When I've raced near you you're clean and fair. Don't get discouraged.

Stevo,

It would be a shame for you to let a few incidents stop you from attending our (your) races. You race well and there is no reason for you to avoid racing in competitive contests with us. I was not upset at our incident. You spun and panicked a bit trying to get off the track, that is all. I've done the same thing. Most everyone here has when they started racing, with maybe the exception of Michael F who was born with a wheel in his hand on his home planet.

The simple fact of the matter is that you can become the worlds greatest hot-lapper and look amazing on the liveracers site, but unless you actually race with other drivers you wont get better at actually racing with other drivers. You get better by learning from your mistakes. If you stop driving with other drivers you will only stall and stunt your learning and growing in our hobby.

There is absolutely no reason for you to stop driving with us so I reject your letter of resignation. And, baring an unfortunate bike and tree encounter or other calamitous, physically destructive accident, I  fully expect to see you next Sunday at Sebring. Got it?
