Hi, My name is Chad Brown. I am the administrator of this league.  ;D Hope to see new and old faces here.

Hello hello,

Co-admin Matt Palla here. I hope to see many old and new members here. Lets make this a great place to race in. I'm sure that is no problem given the amount of talent our members have shown both on and off track.

I have a feeling this will also be a fun and relaxed place ;)

Yo!  I made it over here.  I got a full name and everything.  There were too many Michael Kral's in the old league I had to use my Steam name.  Looking good Chad!!!  Thanks for your hard work and dedication!

SSh Mem led me to this hidden den of depravity on a strictly hush hush basis, it feels rather seedy here, so count me in!  ;D

Hello, I was forcefully coerced by marketcrash to join you guys, after taking a break since about February. I hope to be able to attend most of Sunday's races, don't really care about winning and I just want to have some fun! Maybe then Tom will stop holding me hostage :p.

Hi Guiga and welcome,

I have to remember to thank Tom :D Are you the same guy that uses nickname Guimengo in the ISI forums?

I hope you enjoy your time here as much as Tom seems to :) Feel free to express your opinions and affect what and where we will race in VRC business board.

See you on track!

Yes!!!!!! The one and only GUIMENGO! All my s**t talking has finally paid off. Honestly guys, he will fit right in. The only downside is that he is FAST...like Scott fast.
Now I can officially take the "Gui Fried Chicken" ad off the roof of my simcar.

Hello Gui mate, and welcome to VRC  :)

(Chad what the **** are you playing at letting clowns like this in? Is there no quality control around here whatsoever?   :o )
Title: Re: Hello
Post by: Guiga on October 30, 2016, 09:09:01 pm
I already feel the love, hahahahaha. I think I'm about 1.5-2s slower on average than I was back when racing, and not being able to practice much will not help me get back into it, so it's all about cruising aboard a nice car and track while not getting in anyone's* way  :D.

Tom!

Never endorse me ever dude! You're talking him up way to much. That's a lot of pressure. I don't need this kind of crap.

Welcome Guiga.

I'm the club bad boy here.

Welcome back Christoph. It's good to see you again. I am hoping that during your time off you have completely forgotten how to drive fast. If, on the off chance, you have not forgotten, I would like to recommend you take up downhill mountain biking. The resulting crash and injury would probably be the only way I would be able to beat you in a race.

God I hate being slow... Every new member we have attracted is faster than the last.  Perhaps we should start recruiting from one of the console racing games.

Hi, I'm Dan Kiewicz. I've been around sim-racing for a long time and I still suck. ;) But, I will race you clean and I love the camaraderie that a good league brings. I've raced with CRO and Pan American Sim Racing League both at Race2Play and before Mike Kolar moved it there.

I'm going to have to get used to this Sunday morning thing. I realized at 10 a.m. this morning I had missed today's race. I'll see if I can remember next weeks! LOL!!!

I'm 59 years young and I work at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena. That's one reason it's so hard to find leagues because they all start too early on the weekdays as I have a 2 hour commute and I'm usually not home before they start.

See you on the track, I look forward to being lapped!

Dan...

Here's my other weekend diversion...

Welcome Dan. Glad to see some people filtering in from Race 2 Play. I hope to see more coming over.

I'm 59 years young and I work at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena.

OMFG! JPL?!?! Outside of the fact that I are not smart enough to work there, it is a dream of mine to work anywhere near something NASA is a part of. Holy F'ing cool batman.

In any case, enough of my fanboy slobbering. I look forward to seeing you on track.

Dan, don't believe Gerry... he is a liar. He is NOT slow. I think he is trying to fool you into thinking that so he can demolish you on track. I fell for his lies once, so you don't have to.

Just look for a red Mercedes SLS... and cut that b**tard off!!! Mwah huh huh!!!

Thanks for the welcome everyone. I look forward to racing also. I haven't been doing much lately, so I guess it's time to knock the rust off and see what I can do.

I just want to say, I'm no smarter than anyone else. JPL's been a great gig for 33+ years and I'm glad I was part of most every project we've flown. Lots of fond memories of firsts and I got to be part of them.

But in the end, it's just a job that you do 24/7. :)

Title: Re: Hello
Post by: Rocket on December 28, 2016, 09:08:09 pm
Hey guys . New to the site and an on and off again rFactor racer . I come from a background of driving real race cars in my youth so I am very happy to be here to learn off of some very talented people I have met out in the virtual race world so far . Simming and the real thing are completely different venues . The real thing is a lot easier to drive .
Here is a list of cars raced and titles won in the real world from back in the 80's
1983 Honda Civic .Honda Michelin Series Car . 2nd Place Regional Champion
1984-1983 Honda Michelin Series Car . B  Class Champion as I used the 1983 car 2 seasons.
1985 Honda Michelin Champion . 1985 Honda Civic . More than 50 competitors
1986 GM Players Challenge 2nd place finish overall with more than 70 competitors . IROC Z Camaro
1987 Gm Players Challenge 10th place end of season finish .
1987 Rothman's Porsche Series . 944 Porsche . Ran out of money so was unable to complete series . Only did 4 races that summer . Best race was in the rain from 17th on the grid to a 5th place finish .
1987 I was invited to do a few guest races in the Honda Michelin Series which I enjoyed immensely .
1987 .Drove in Escort Endurance Series in a 1986 C4 Corvette . Was the lead driver for the team . I qualified car and started races and did all night drives which I really enjoyed with a 24hr at Mosport and a 24hr at Mid Ohio . I have no idea were we finished other than we did finish the 24hr races . The C4 was banned from the Ecort Endurance series because of there speed and durability . Nothing stayed with the Corvette's period . What a dream to drive and race ...
1988 Escort Endurance series driving a CRX Honda Civic . We did well in this car . I was lead driver again and we had a 3 car team for a 24hr at Mosprt and we finished 1,2,3 all from one team . A great accomplishment by a huge amount of people involved . Well over 100 different cars on the track also . Fun as hell . I think we were called GT3 cars at the time with GT2 and GT1's of course . These were considered showroom stock cars all with minor modifications .
1989 did a few more Endurance races with a few different teams and was lucky enough to qualify cars for races and start races . The starts are my favorite lol and of coarse as I mentioned , night drives . Most teams have 3 to 4 drivers for 12 and 24hr races .
1990 and 1991 my career was slowing down . My last 2 races were in an Acura Integra and I won the first race in the rain and finished 2nd in the next race . Our team did no more races due to a conflict in sponsorship on our cars so my helmet was hung up and now , 25 , 30 years later I am back into driving in a sim .
In my second year of racing I received the nickname Rocket when I was out qualifying A class Honda Civics in a B Class Honda Civic with 15 less hp lol .
I hope you don't mind but I posted that nickname as my forum name and I use it also on a few other forums as I have vintage bikes that are fast as hell also .
I also own a 1995 ZR-1 Corvette. 415 HP . Yes . The King Of the Hill with the legendary Lotus LT5 32 Valve Mercruiser Monster Engine . They are everything and more of what you have read or heard about if you guys know anything about this car . Outstanding car !
Also just got a 2008 C6 Coupe with an LS3 430hp engine . Winter came early so I cannot tell you yet how it drives as I have not even driven it yet . Can't wait for spring.
On that I will finish and hope I did not bore you guys of my youth escapades .
Looking forward to getting my ass kicked by you awesome simmers and some good racing again .I will never go as fast as you guys but it has been a very long time and I miss it greatly .
Rocket

Welcome to the league Rocket. Well your resume is quite long and impressive. I won a potato sack when I was six or so. I also took first place in the Boy Scouts Pine wood derby when I was in grade school. 3 years in a row. The old man had mostly to do with that I think. Outside of those championships I dont think I've won anything else. I look forward to having another racer ahead of me on the grid.

If you have any questions let us know. If you are planning on joining us for the upcoming APEX Mod GT3 Series let us know which car you plan on using and we'll add you to the roster. You can sign up here:

Sorry to hear that Mike. Is this Mike Rivet?  We're always around. The regulars in this league are online pretty much daily. I've been messing around in R3E, Assetto, and PCARS too. I think once the holidays are over we will be even more active. We are going to try and host races midweek nights and also Saturday races (less official, no series.) Tom hosted a race in Assetto recently and there were a lot of attendees. I also setup a similar race in PCARS as a comparison. I restricted it to 20 drivers and the room filled up in a few minutes. You are in the steam group so you should see announcements. You can also check in here.

Hope to see you on track in the future.

Hey Micheal and Chad and thankyou . Yes . I am Mike Rivet and we have already chatted on Steam Micheal  ;). I have a question for you guys . Tho I cannot fit time in for the qualifying and races , would I be able to join in the 60min practice if there is space as I would not want to take take away a full series racers spot ? ::)
I have to leave my house at 12:30 pm eastern my time and I believe your practice time would be 11:35 my time so that gives me almost an hr to play ...
Just wondering .
Also I will keep an eye on when people may be up for some tire spinnin and slidin online ..
Thanks

Mike

@Mike

I don't have a problem if you want to join in the practice sessions provided you disconnect before or after the race has started otherwise we may get some stuttering as you join/leave the server. I am in the UK and am on almost every evening @ 9pm GMT until around Midnight-1am GMT with Steve  it would be good to have someone to drive with as we are mostly by ourselves.  Except every now and then when we see Gerry and M'Lud!
we should move this conversion to a new thread as this thread is for saying hello!!

ooh ahh cantana!!

Hi all  :) My name is Rich. I've been into racing games since Revs on the Beeb way back when. I've raced in F1 and GT6 leagues in the past so have some experience. I've been a PC racer for 18 months and been looking for a  Sunday league that doesn't take too much time commitment. The Sunday event looks to suit me perfectly. See you all on track !!!

Oh gods, there goes the neighbourhood!
Don't take any slavver from this guy, he  is potentially another Michael! ;D

On a serious note, welcome along Rich, it will be good to have your dust trail to follow.

Oh my God! Not another Michael! Anything but that!

Welcome Rich. Hearing that you are a "Michael" type, I hoping you are more of a funny but non-offensive "Michael" and not the Dickhole type of "Michael" that we can't seem to get rid of. I mean really, the Michael we already have is like that bit of dog poo on the bottom of your boot that you cant get out of the lugs on the sole so you just leave it there and occasionally try to wipe off in the tall grass. All the while apologizing to everyone around you for the  offensive odor coming from your shoe.

If you're that kind of Michael... well I suppose I have two shoes.

Thx. I have no idea about Michael... I thought he meant Schumacher. So it wasn't a compliment, then?!? GRRRRRR

Since when did I EVER do compliments?  ;D
Title: Re: Hello

Actually Rich! You should take it as a compliment if you're being compared to me. These guys are just jealous of our wit and good looks. Sure we smell like dog ****. Sure we might offend. Sure people might think we are jerks. I forgot where I was going with that. I'll get back to you.

LOL Michael. I think you must be right. All those harsh and mean comments - it can only be their envy coming to the fore. In reality they want to be you. So I take it as a big compliment.  ;D

Hello All,  I was referred here from another forum by Matt, a VRC admin.  I am new to rFactor after a year on iRacing.  I also raced N2003 before going away from online racing for a while.

I am located in Ontario Canada on Eastern Time Zone and am most interested in your road racing series.  I am hoping someone can direct me to a schedule so I can be sure I have the track and car to get into a race with you.

Thx GG

Hi GG,
Welcome!
Here is a link to the sign up thread with series details, HTH
http://vrc.createaforum.com/series-sign-ups/gt3-series/ (http://vrc.createaforum.com/series-sign-ups/gt3-series/)
We have a non-points pre-season race today, hour long practice starting at 16:35 GMT/11:35 EST.
You should be able to get the track and car mod by joining the server via get mod.
One of the Admins will probably be along shortly to welcome you on board as well.

Welcome GG.

You can check the calendar up at the top menu of the full forum site. It should contain a link for an event.

I have also started a Steam group. Virtual Racing Championship. You can join that group and you will be able to view announcements and events over there.

See you on track.

Michael

Thanks everyone for the warm welcomes.  I couldn't get out of a commitment today, but will be sure to get into the next race.

One other thing.  I spelled my user name incorrectly.   Can it be changed to GiddyG77   (2 d's) or will I have to get a new birth certificate.  :)

Good question. I don't know if you or one of the admins can change a user name. Let me look into that when I have a free moment.
