Title: VRC 2018 GT3 Spring Series
Post by: Tig_green on December 19, 2017, 09:32:04 am
The 2018 VRC GT3 Spring Series

VRC is proud to announce the 2018 VRC GT3 Spring Series.

The series will use the Excellent studio397 GT3 Mod. GT3 power pack or each car separately must have been obtained by driver prior to registration. Mod will not be provided by VRC.

This series will consist of 2 Pre-Season Races and 12 Points races. 10 out of 12 races will count towards points so you can have couple off weeks if life surprises. Each event will get a separate event thread at VRC business events board.

Race Weekend will start at 16:35 GMT on Sundays. Races will be 45 minutes in length except there are 3 one hour races (see the calendar). Each driver is required to perform a mandatory pit stop, taking on a minimum of 2 tires. The driver may choose when this pit stop happens. The pit stop does not include penalty stops.

Allowed assists will be ABS (low), Traction Control (low), and Auto Clutch.

VRC Rules and regualtions (http://vrc.createaforum.com/new-members/vrc-rules-and-regualtions/) will be enforced. Rules are subject to change at the discretion of VRC Administration.

In order to ensure the safe and consistent racing our members have come to expect, registration for the series will be mandatory.

Please announce your intent to race in this series and which vehicle you will be driving in this post. You will then be considered "registered" for the series. You need only register once for the entire series.

Upon completion of registration on the forums drivers can announce their intent to participate in the series in this post. Your name will be added to the registrants list. There is no minimum amount of races you need to participate in if you sign up, but we would like to know, if you can only do few races.

Discussion for this series will be done here: http://vrc.createaforum.com/vrc-business/vrc-2018-gt3-spring-series-discussion/

We are excited to host this series and look forward to seeing you on track.

Yeah, hope you don't mind I had to take it for a spin at Long Beach to get the photo op. I barely scratched it, cosmetic damage only.

The radical is such an odd car for this series. I imagine that in the right hands it is quick as lightning, But I have not yet seen anyone who can get it's twitchiness under control.

Ill take a Merc for now since I have not driven any of the cars since I was holding out for everyone to come to their senses and convert to R3E or PCARS2.  Im number 11 so if someones already number 11 guess what...we have the same number.  If I try this car later and I dont like it I'm switching cars.

Also sign up Jan van Lier because Im going to spend at least 2 and a half minutes convincing him to buy this GT3 pack (without even having tried it) and then another 12 seconds convincing him to sign up to the series.

thanks

I'm in like Flynn. But not because of Michael, in fact I had to consider very carefully if I wanted to join after he did...

Mercedes or Verte most likely, but I haven't driven any of them yet.

Looking forward to racing you fellas again!

Incredible number on the list, even more when I remember the days back of VSCR in 2014 with some races only 5 drivers on the grid...and now we have to switch race tracks because it would be to full of cars  :o

Thank you Chad and Matt for all your effort for this league, really a great achievement when looking back where we started some years ago :)

Post by: Chad Brown on January 04, 2018, 11:33:48 pm
Thanks Julian. The popularity of this series is a bit of a surprise, but its not a terrible problem to have. It simply means we will need to adjust to our larger potential numbers. I and the other administrators are deciding how to best approach the number of registrants. We will continue to keep the membership informed as to any format and procedure changes as we adjust to the expanded grid sizes.

The expanding grid sizes speaks well of how rF2 is growing its player base in spite of all the death knells constantly being tolled in the Sim racing community and news sites. I expect this to continue as S397 continue to improve the game.

Truly exciting times in rF2.

There's no need to report your absence from any particular race. Only if you're going to be withdrawing from the series. We pretty much run with whom ever shows up for the race.

I am taking a break from sim racing. Every few years I lose motivation, so nothing new to me ;)
In the past few weeks I was just tooling around the Nordschleife to have some fun, but to compete in a league takes more than that.

But I am not quiting this league, when the time is right I will come back, even if it is only for some sporadic races.

Merely a procedural thing. Best to maintain the registration structure. just make an announcement for which car you will be driving. Also, we have a skin pack that you probably already got from the server, but FYI, if you wish to have a custom skin I believe you can send it to Slamfunk3 (http://vrc.createaforum.com/index.php?action=profile;u=133) (Tom Kapusta) and he will get it worked into the next skin pack update. More likely it will come for the next series though.

My birthday is Sunday, 31, stupid number. I hate odd numbers. And you know, of course, that involves me more than likely being forced out to lunch or dinner with my family to celebrate me getting older...and cutting into my precious racing time. So, I may, or may not be joining you fine gentleman this Sunday. I'm hoping to just tell them "Hey, why don't you all just come to my house, and bake me a cake, and ill race, and then eat said cake" I mean honestly. No one ever said you cant have your cake AND race right?

Here's to me hoping for cake and beer in my race chair for my birthday present  ;)

Cake and beer may not be the best combination...BUT IT IS ON YOUR BIRTHDAY!!!!

Post by: Chad Brown on March 17, 2018, 03:58:26 pm
Well, luckily with each passing year your birthday becomes less and less relevant. Pretty soon the day comes and goes and no one makes any notice at all. You can race to your heart's content.

The Series Champion will be announced as soon as the points are completely tallied and finalized.

I would like to extend a big thank you to the drivers who participated in this series. The driving this season was excellent and made for very exciting races. Without drivers there would be no reason to host the league.

Special Thanks goes out to the following members and League Admins:

Matt Palla, Tom Lebeuf, and Simon Jones for their administrative help in making this league and series so successful.
Tom Lebeuf for producing our advertisement poster.
