I have updated the server to the newest build. I am working on downloading and installing the new GT3 cars from the pack. However, S397 and steam are being completely non-intuitive dicks about it right now.

Thanks for the offer Dan. I'll be getting in contact with you or the next couple of days to try to figure out how to get this up and running. I don't believe that the SLS has live-timing the same way that live racer did, or at least if it does I didn't find it in the literature.

General Discussion / Teamspeak and Whatsapp usage
« on: October 13, 2017, 07:22:12 am »
I have noticed a nice uptick in TeamSpeak usage by our membership on Sundays. I would like to see this usage continue and hopefully grow. I firmly believe that when you hear someone's voice you start to grow more connected to them.

I, like many of you, have played other games besides Sim racing. One of those games that I had the most fun and involvement was EvE Online. In that game Voice communication was essential for fleet movement, battle co-ordinations, and general bafoonery. But what it did in addition this was make the players more connected. I looked forward to talking to the other players. I felt closer to them than other players with whom I did not have voice communications with.

I think we have a great group here, but I think it could be even better. TeamSpeak (TS) usage is not mandatory, but certainly encouraged. So if you have not yet installed and tried using TS, now is the time. If you are not sure how to DL and install it ask and we will get you all setup.

We also use a phone app called "Whatsapp". It is a communication app through either the apple Istore or Google Play store (Android). It is good for communication when you are not at our computer. It also is THE fastest way to make an administrator aware of a problem or concern. If you decide to se it with us let me, Matt, Simon, or Tom know and we can get you added to the Whatsapp group.

Hope to see everyone on Sunday.

skins look great. I need some skills. I have a vision of a skin but no ability to make it happen, Luckily Simon made me a bad ass skin that will suffice.

That "animation" looks an awful lot more like a cutscene. I'm not sure how that would work in live racing though. Unless the Pitstop is a pre-determined set amount of time every time.

rFactor 2 / Re: EGT Mod Update?
« on: October 10, 2017, 01:35:36 am »
I haven't received an email from urd indicating that they have updated the EGT mod. I'm not sure where you got a version 2.1. Although I believe I recall somebody else saying that they had a version 2.1 and stole and it was goofing things up. Try uninstalling it and reinstalling the 2.0 version

I have built my own systems since the late 90's but I have always had to budget for not quite the best but some kind of compromise.  Usually not the latest greatest.  Not this time, I want to build the best that is available in the first 1/4 of 2018 dagnabit!  ;D
Now, what can I sell?  ;D
Gerry

I started building my own computers since the very early 2000's. I, like you Gerry, have always had to compromise on parts to afford the most bang for buck. The system I currently have cost me $1100.00 to build. That by far was the most I have ever spent on a build that was my own. I typically spent $600-$700 every couple of years, so considering the cost to build over time I am about due for an update. Just not sure when I'll have the coin for a new computer. Time to sell a Kidney.

More proof that cats are always trying to kill their owners (Attempting to electrocute you.)

My son has been on my headset a lot and being able to replace the cable is a great thing. I can see my cable getting bunched up and twisted more and more over time. I expect that I will eventually have to replace it due to a break.

Still for anyone looking to get into VR this Rift is f'ing amazing. Especially at the $400.00 price point. Just make sure you have a decent system. My top end computer from 3 years ago (FX8320 OC@ 4.0 GHz and R9 290) is barely pushing consistent frame rates over long play sessions.

It appears to have a significant amount of telemetry data available for display, including fuel usage (Liters/gallons per lap).

Looks like I can't get the program to show up on the HMD. Too bad.

ooooohhhhhh. This looks interesting. Does it introduce lag into the system? Wonder if it works in VR.

I also have a SC package. It came with my R9 290. I have since traded my Mustang Omega for a 300i. I have downloaded each new build as they have come out (around 30 GB per update). With each new build I find that I have desync issues and can't play. The last build seemed to take care of some of these issues, but I have found that the Microsoft 3D Pro joystick I have is problematic if I keep it connected to my Racing Rig after trying to use it in SC. I also keep losing the controller setup and have to try to figure out the mapping again.

Needless to say I am not confident I will ever see the game play I have been seeing in "Demo" videos. If it is a scam it has been incredibly well done, as people continue to give CIG their money. If the game turns into what they have been touting it should be AMAZING.... but I am dubious.

Not that I'm trying to defend or support anyone getting deeper into PC2, but like any setup, it is tailored to the driver and track so no one size fits all. Imagine using the same setup for Zandvoort that you used for Monza. I suspect one setup would be just as sucky for the other track.
