I have finished 2.5 seasons now at VRC and can attest to the high level of organization and the friendly atmosphere of the league.  Oh, and the competition is intense!

I will say it once again Juan and all who help to run VRC, you all are doing a stellar job.  Kudos   8)

Thanks Mark for the recognition.  It is definitely a team effort from all the admins and most importantly the active participation of all our members.

New Members & VRC Rules / VRC Rules and Regulations
« on: July 29, 2020, 02:24:49 pm »
VRC Charter:

#1- to provide clean racing for the members.
#2- to provide a good quality permanent server for great racing events
#3- to develop and grow a high quality community and develop relationships between members.

In order to achieve these goals it is important to race as a community. This means cleanly and considering members as a whole. Clean passing is difficult and takes many laps to set up. Working cooperatively when lapping or being lapped, being prepared for the races and providing room for others to race are very important. It's important to consider running a defending line vs. blocking line and avoid blocking. Sometimes you have to follow a slower driver for several laps before you set that driver up for a pass. Be patient and always race CLEAN above all else. These are essential points to developing this community and achieving these goals.

It’s all about FUN!!!

Rules and regulations:

1. General Rules
1.1 Be a gentleman: treat each other like you would expect to be treated

1.2 Rules are league rules, follow them in everything. Rules apply to all sessions in the server and how you act while in Discord or other channels.

1.3 If you hit a driver resulting in a spin, crash or if the driver goes off track, be a sportsman: wait for him in a safe position, and give the driver his place back.

1.4 Cutting rules are simulator cutting rules. When you receive a cut warning it means you are out of the track, and gaining advantage. If you go off the track please slow down and rejoin with proper caution. You must keep two wheels on the track at all times. Curbs are a part of the track.

1.5 After a spin or crash, pressing ESC is allowed.

1.6 Race with common sense in all the sessions (practice, qualify, warm-up and race). Don't hold up, or block unnecessarily during pre-race sessions.

1.7 Pitting on the final lap- The finish line is defined (when a driver pits on the final lap only) as the pit exit line.

1.8 Drivers must have a stable internet connection. VRC is not responsible for drivers who are not able to sustain a connection to the server. Drivers must maintain a maximum ping of 150 (as viewed on the race server). Drivers above 150 will be asked to leave the server.

1.9 Admin Team reserves the right to change the rules at any time.

2. Car Selection:
When a driver signs up for the championship, he/she shall choose a car.  Drivers will be allowed to switch to another car without penalty only once during a championship. Switching cars more than once, even if it is to a car already used, shall impose a DT penalty in the next race the driver participates in.  A DT penalty for each change.

3. Championship Points:
Point system is as follows:

P2.   28
P3.   25

Additional Points

2 points for the pole
1 point for starting a race
1 point for finishing race while completing at least 75% of leader laps.

Note: 2 worse races of the season will be dropped. 9 out of 11 races will count towards series points so you can have a couple of weeks off. Not applicable for the Team Championship (all race points count).

There are Driver and Team Championships.

Teams:
- A maximum of 3 drivers per team.
- Only the top two drivers per race will have points for the team championship.
- No need to have the same car or skin.
- If you decide to not be part of a team, basically a one driver team, we will create a team for you as follows, &surname& Racing.
- Team movement is not allowed as the points travel with the driver

4. Race Starts / Restarts:
All races will have a formation lap and a rolling start

4.1 Formation Lap:
Race will start with a formation lap UNDER SPEED LIMITER.

The race will be listed as a standing start. The formation lap will be conducted as the race timer is running. If you are using Crew Chief you will likely hear him say "Go, Go" at the start of the formation lap. Drivers will hear and see the red lights and horns counting down to the start of the race as we all sit on the grid. At the sound of the start we will then begin the formation lap.

It is your responsibility to know exactly who you need to follow. The driver to follow will be the one in front of you on the starting grid and slightly behind the driver ahead of you in qually (about half a car behind). See image below:

At the start of the formation lap YOU MUST WAIT for the cars ahead of you to move before YOU move.

During the formation lap drivers are expected to maintain a smooth pace under the speed limiter (85kmh / 53mph or the speed limiter specific for the track).

The field must follow in DOUBLE FILE.

Drivers shall maintain a safe but reasonable distance to other drivers, following the order based on starting position. Make sure to close the gap with the driver ahead of you.  It is allowed to turn off the speed limiter momentarily to close the gap.

Weaving to warm up tyres is NOT allowed.

Hard braking and accelerating is NOT allowed. This causes an accordion effect throughout the field and could lead to accidents.

Drivers shall not perform burnouts to warm up their tires. This leads to accidents and does not significantly heat up the tires.

Drivers should always be prepared for the accordion effect, especially approaching any tight corners.

Drivers who spin, or drop out of place in line, during the formation lap MUST NOT attempt to pass other cars in order to regain their place. The driver should safely blend into formation lap traffic or wait for the field to go past before rejoining track. Again, DO NOT attempt to make your way through the grid to your assigned starting spot.

4.2 Race Starts:
Drivers to be under the speed limit for the track and under speed limiter until they reach the Start/Finish line.  Race starts for each driver once he/she crosses the Start/Finish line. At that point each driver can turn off the speed limiter and accelerate, not before that. Drivers releasing the speed limiter and accelerating before crossing the Start/Finish line will be subject to penalties.

Note 1: Drivers can not pass the driver in front before the start / finish line.

Note 2: The start of the race is the most likely place and time for incidents to occur. Races are not won on the first lap. There is a higher probability of ruining other drivers race by taking unnecessary risks on the first lap, so don’t do it!

Note 3:The first 3 turns of each race are an “Orange Zone“. If a driver causes an incident in the Orange Zone, penalties are doubled.

4.3 Restarts - Red Flag:
No restarts will take place due to accidents/incidents during the race. A restart will only be considered if there is a server/connection issue.

Red Flagging a race:  If there is a server issue or a connection issue that results in the race being cut off early, either a restart (if within the first half of the race and the connection comes back) or a red flag (no points before half race time or half points if after half race time) shall be called.

Check Discord / forums for updates should this occur.  Give it a few minutes to see if the issue is resolved.  Discord is the best way to get information.

5. Pit Stops:
There is a mandatory pit stop during the race. Minimum 2 tires must be changed. Pit stop during formation lap does not count as a mandatory race pit stop.

Sanction: A driver failing to do a proper pit stop will be Disqualified from the race.

6. Flags:
Respect the in-game rules, all flags should be respected, and followed.   Blue flags shall be shown but not penalized by the game.  If you are being overtaken slow down and let the other car pass as soon as possible.

7. Penalties:
As we don't have live stewards, sanctions will be assessed after the race on a case by case basis. Sanction levels are as follows:

- Warning: A driver performs an action that does not warrant an infraction or penalty to be issued. (3 warnings = 1 penalty).

- Infraction: A driver violated a rule, but not enough for a full penalty. (2 infractions = 1 penalty), (2 warnings + 1 Infraction = 1 penalty)

- Penalty: A driver committed an infraction that warrants a full penalty.  Warnings / Infractions / Penalties will accumulate during a championship series.
     - First Penalty: Drive Through (DT) in the next race the driver participates in.
     - Second Penalty: Drive Through (DT) in the next race the driver participates in.
     - Third Penalty: Stop and Go (S/G) (10 Seconds) in the next race the driver participates in.
     - Fourth Penalty: Stop and Go (S/G) (20 Seconds) in the next race the driver participates in.
     - Fifth Penalty: Ban for a race.
     - Sixth Penalty: Banned from the remainder of the series.

Any warnings/infractions/penalties that take place in the last race of the season will be applied by using time penalties for DT or S/G, and DQ in case of a race ban.

Only one penalty can be served per race. Additional penalties will be differed to  the upcoming races, one at a time.

DT and S/G penalties given by the stewards and/or the game before the start of the formation lapmust be served after the start of the race. Can not be served until the formation lap is completed. If the penalty is served before the formation lap is completed, the penalty is considered not served, and it will be applied the next race the driver participates in the championship series. NOTE: If the penalty given by rF2 is due to jumping the start, the driver can serve the penalty before the end of the formation lap

Admins may decide to call an infraction instead of a penalty when there is a violation of a rule that has a penalty, but where there is no spin, going off track, any significant damage or circumstances are otherwise such that the incident does not warrant a penalty. Admins may decide not to call even an infraction in these cases if there is no pass or if the party faulting in an infraction gives the position back right away. On the other hand, serious offenses could trigger further penalties, including exclusion from results (DQ), banning from future races, or expulsion from the league.

Formation lap and lap 1 will be reviewed by The Admins. If incidents occur in the first lap drivers found to be in violation of the established rules will receive penalties.

7.1 Chat:
No chat is permitted in qualifying or race, arguments can be settled after the race. In-race chatting and non-pertinent Discord comms will be punishable by post-race penalties.  If you want to communicate you can use Discord, but in Qualifying and Race this is limited to comms pertaining to safety or server bug issues.

Sanction Level: The driver will get an infraction in the Championship for each violation of this rule.

7.2 Releasing Speed Limiter/Accelerating before S/F line:
If a driver releases the speed limiter and accelerates before crossing the Start/Finish line the driver will be subject to a penalty.

Sanction Level: The driver will get an infraction in the Championship for each violation of this rule.

7.3 Blocking
The failure of a driver to use mirrors to acknowledge the presence of other competitors, yield to lapping competitors, or alter the racing line more than once based on the actions of pursuing competitors is not allowed.

The alteration of a racing line based on the actions of pursuing competitors, or the use of an abnormal racing line to inhibit or prevent passing is not allowed. When someone is trying to overtake you on a straight, you are allowed to change lines only once. Swerving causes dangerous situations, and most of the time results in crashes.

Corners, as well as, the approach and exit zones thereof, may be negotiated by the drivers in any way they wish, within the limits of the track. Blocking, according to these circumstances, may be done.

Sanction Level: The driver will get a penalty in the Championship for each infraction of this rule.

7.4 Corner Rights:
A driver must establish substantial overlap with the car ahead before a corner's braking point. For fast turns, where we do not necessarily have a braking point but a "throttle lifting" point, then the overlap must take place before the corner's turn in point.
Substantial overlap means  that the overtaking driver must at least get his/her front wheels even with the rear wheels of the car  being overtaken.

If substantial overlap has been established, both drivers must acknowledge the presence of the opponent and leave enough space to complete the corner. The inside driver must perform the inside overtaking maneuver without braking or slowing down his run by hitting/colliding with the outside driver. The outside driver can not close the door and come down on the inside driver.

If there is no overlap before the braking or turn in point, once the driver ahead is between the braking point and before the apex (braking zone) he/she can not abruptly change his/her committed racing line. The driver ahead has every right to be fully committed to the apex without any interference.

Note:We know this is racing and that drivers need to attempt passing others, and that normally takes place going into a corner at the end of straights. Just make sure you understand that if you try to out-brake someone going into a corner and that results in an accident then most likely you will receive a penalty.

Sanction Level: If the driver of the overtaking car does not have substantial overlap and causes an accident that driver will get a penalty in the Championship for each infraction of this rule.

Sanction Level: If the driver of the overtaking car does have substantial overlap and the driver of the car being overtaken comes down on the overtaking car and causes an accident that driver will get a penalty in the Championship for each infraction of this rule.

7.5 Hit from Front / Behind / Side:
Any driver that hits another driver from front/behind/side, that was not himself hit from front/behind/side and causes that driver to lose control, go off track, or end his race.

Sanction Level: The driver will get a penalty in the Championship for each infraction of this rule.

7.6 Off Track:
Any car that has all four tires off the track must rejoin the track in a safe manner, with car under control and yield the racing line to all visible traffic in front of or behind the car. The car must not alter any drivers racing line while re-entering the track.

Never go off track when attempting an overtake. A car in front of you is not required to move over just because you run out of space. So when overtaking, choose a line where you have space, without the car in front of you having to move out of the way.

It is the responsibility of the overtaking car to make the pass in a safe manner. The overtaking driver should not place any portion of their car on the grass, gravel, or other surface not intended as the race surface to make a pass, except in avoidance of a spin or crash.

Sanction Level: The driver will get an infraction in the Championship for an off track infraction. The driver will get a penalty in the Championship if you cause an accident during an off track infraction.

7.7 Spins:
If a driver spins while on track, he/she should immediately lock their brakes until completely stopped, (even if still on the track), and hold brakes on until he/she can assess the situation (wait for a clear opening on track to continue the race). When a driver doesn’t lock his/her brakes, the car is prone to spin or roll in a far more unpredictable way and likely cause an accident. A driver involved in an incident while spinning on track and not locking their brakes completely and/or rejoining the race safely will be held responsible for that incident.

If the car is completely off the track, the driver is allowed to correct the car as long as the car does not enter the track during the correction. The car must not alter any drivers racing line while re-entering the track.

Sanction Level: The driver will get a penalty in the Championship if causes an accident.

7.8 Failure to brake / slow down:
If a driver approaching an incident fails to slow down and as a result either adds to the existing incident or become involved in an additional incident will be penalized.

Sanction Level: The driver will get a penalty in the Championship if causes an accident.

7.9 Unpredictable Behaviour:
Drivers who demonstrate unpredictable behaviour may be subject to penalty. Examples of unpredictability are:
A driver suddenly changing lanes to block a pass,  ‘to get out of the way’ for lapping cars or when the blue flag appears. Drivers must hold a predictable line and pace until the pass is initiated by the passing / lapping car, then they must hold their current lane.

A driver braking early into a corner. Drivers are normally planning to follow and has nowhere to go when a driver brakes early or suddenly.

Not accelerating at a normal race pace out of a corner. Lifting off the throttle is equal to applying the brakes but without the benefit of brake lights as a warning. The following car has nowhere to go.

Sanction Level: The driver will get a penalty in the Championship if causes an accident.

Please announce in this post your intention to race.  We have two classes, select either a LMP2 or GTE car.

Registrants must use their real name.  On the race server real names are enforced, but since Steam does not mandate real names be used it is difficult to enforce the use of a real name on the server in all cases.

We are excited to host this race and look forward to seeing you on track.
