General Discussion / Re: VRC is 4 Years old
« on: December 07, 2020, 06:09:32 am »
Thanks for the well wishes Gerry. As is always the case work is a **** and there is little time for racing. I will be off work for the next few weeks as I take care of the missus after surgery. Nothing too serious but enough that I meed.to flee from my duties to get her rehabilitated. I was looking at the calendar an was hoping to take part in a race or two while I was off. Unfortunately it appears that there may not be races while I have off... ill look more while I am not on my phone.

Rest assured I am.getting the itch to race again.

must be getting on for 7yrs since I first Raced with you when we were VSCR  :)

Yeah, That seems about right. When I joined the group it was 2014. Guy Moulton was running the show and the league was called by a different name... BESforrF2 or something similar. Then we renamed to VSCR. Guy went missing and I took over the group in 2016, creating VRC. In 2020 I retired; Juan and the rest of the Admin group continued on and continued to work hard in making VRC the exciting and competitive league it is now. Good work guys. with any luck when I retire (from my full time day job) I can join you all for races again. (6 years in the future unfortunately)

Sorry to hear it Hunter. I know it is a bit early for the Aussies and Kiwis. Figured it was the best fit for the Americas Time Zones and if any of you fellas happen to work an off hours schedule you could join us as well.

6
I know it's gonna be New Year's day but I was going to try to be on the server tomorrow night @ 9:00 pm EST and practice for a bit, maybe advance through the race day schedule (if possible?) and see if I can make it till 11:00 and see how I feel and if I can stay up that late  :)
Would be cool if we could have a little fun race or something?
Anybody wanna join?

Sounds fun. I shouldn't have to go into work early on the first. Emphasis on "Shouldn't". I'll see if I can make a practice race.

Server is back up and running. Sorry for it being down so long. I did a windows update and then did not restart the server. With the long hours at work I kept forgetting to get back to the server and get it restarted. Should be all good now though.

On another subjects though, The mod authors have released a new version of the V8 Supercars. I believe some of the membership have already tested them. I have not had time to test it yet, but all signs point to it being stable and well balanced. I imagine that we will move to the new mod before the start of the points series. If I can get some confirmation about the stability of the mod we may move to it before the series starts this week.

I presume no BoP takes place? The cars are close to equal in overall performance but they're not.

You presume correct. No BoP from us. Choose the car you think is the fastest for you.

No Worries Phil.

Talking about CMS' upcoming V8SC series? There has been some discussion on discord about foregoing this series in favor of joining their series. They have a much larger base of drivers and can fill out a grid more easily than we can here. The interest here is luke warm at best, with one driver being super hyped about it. Thanks for the enthusiasm Ted.

The drivers I was counting on to jump in on this series have not yet appeared and some of them already have been racing over at CSM because of scheduling conflicts with our Sunday series. I am heavily tempted to cancel this series and join the CSM series just to have a full grid. I am not really all that interested in sprint races with 4 drivers.

I shouldn't make this decision tonight though as I am already in a very foul mood, and it has shown in some of my comments on discord tonight,

Honestly, I'm not sure what the difference is between the cars. I am sure there is some in the handling, but I did not really do any comparative testing.

i'm in!
Giovanni, just as a reminder we require you to use your real name on the server please. Let me know what that will be come race day. If you dont know how to list your real name on the server you can check out the link in the post above.

In order to ensure the safe and consistent racing our members have come to expect, registration for the series will be mandatory.

Please announce your intent to race in this series in this post. You will then be considered "registered" for the series. You need only register once for the entire series.

Registrants must use their real name. We race against people, not their online egos. On the race server real names are enforced.   Here are the instructions to change your name in rF2

Upon completion of registration on the forums drivers can announce their intent to participate in the series in this post. Your name will be added to the registrants list. There is no minimum amount of races you need to participate in if you sign up, but we would like to know if you can only do few races.

Discussion for this series will be done here:
