What would be authentic for the APEX cars? Paddle shifter, or console mounted sequential?

Depends on the car. Many are flappy paddle, but the Z4 isnt. Dont think the Camaro is either

I've been taking laps on the server this afternoon.

Just got an audio alert for all non essential personnel to leave the grid.

Is there an SOP with rules and etiquette somewhere?

Thanks,
Tarheel Dan

P.S. Do people on the track talk to each other during practice over headsets? I didn't wear one this afternoon.

That audio alert comes at start of race, it happens all the time in RF2 and just adds immersion. Some of us use Teamspeak to chat, so you have to install that. We chat only during practice. On raceday there should be no chatting or messaging during quali or race.

There is a section on rules in (i think) the vrc business section. Shoild give the teamspeak info there too.

"Attention will all non essential personnel leave the grid now!" Ah that's truly the awesome thing about RF2  8) No other sim has that, none of them. ISI nailed it.

LOL!!!!

Steven that made me laugh real good. That is so me. Except I pulled up first. Maybe wet my pants a little. So so true! It's an involuntary reaction. Awesome!

Wondering whether I'm ready to join the race tomorrow.

I can drive laps pretty good as long as I don't try to push too hard, but I still lose concentration every few laps, and crash. That's no good for anybody.

Also, I have no idea about pitstops. Tried to do it in practice, but never could figure out how to make it happen.

Should I jump in?

If you are unsure what you can do is take part in practice as normal. Then when qualification comes around you simply sit it out. This puts you in the back of the line for the start. You then be careful not to rear end anyone on the first lap and settle in for a 30 minute practice session. You still take part in the race but not competitively, unless of course you feel confident enough to challenge anyone who is not faster than you.
