VRC Rules and Regualtions

VRC charter:
#1- to provide clean racing for the members here.
#2- to provide a good quality permanent racing server as a haven for pick-up racing and great scheduled racing events
#3- to develop and grow a high quality community and develop relationships between members using our forums, Steam chat, in-game chat, Social Media, and TS.

In order to achieve these goals it is important to race as a community. This means cleanly and considering the community as a whole. Clean passing is difficult and often takes many laps to set up. Working cooperatively when lapping or being lapped, being 100% prepared for the races and providing room for others to race are very important. It's important to consider running a defending line vs. blocking line and avoid blocking. Sometimes you have to follow a slower driver for several laps before you set that driver up for a pass. Be patient and always racing CLEAN above all else. These are essential points to developing this community and achieving these goals.

Rules and regulations:

1. Be a gentleman: treat each other like you would expect to be treated

2. Rules are league rules, follow them in everything (penalties, pit stops, pit lane speed etc.).

3. If you hit a driver resulting in a spin, crash or if the driver goes off track, be a sportsman: wait for him in a safe position, and give the driver his place back.

4. Cutting rules are simulator cutting rules. When you receive a cut warning it means you are out of the track, and gaining advantage. If you go off the track please slow down and rejoin with proper caution. You must keep two wheels on the track at all times. Curbs are a part of the track.

5. Pressing ESC is allowed. After a spin or crash, wait to be completely alone and move the car off the racing surface if possible. Once with the car is stopped in a safe place, you can press ESC.

6. Race with common sense in all the sessions (practice, qualify, warm-up and race). Don't hold up, or block unnecessarily during pre-race sessions.

7. When someone is trying to overtake you on a straight, you are allowed to change lines only once. Swerving causes dangerous situations, and most of the time results in crashes.

8. If a driver is on the inside and has overtaken you in the corner: give them room as it is their corner, follow them, be faster than them, and overtake them in a clean move. Then you are clean, otherwise it will be considered a dirty move and the other driver probably (and unfairly) may be taken out of the race if there is a crash. Always give enough room to drivers around you.

9. Respect the in-game rules, all flags should be respected, and followed. There are no blue flag rules here.  Blue flags shall be shown but not penalized.  If you are being overtaken and are off pace and not in a battle of your own, slow down and let the other car pass.  If you are in a battle it is up to the other car to make a SAFE, EFFECTIVE, and DECISIVE pass.

10. After the start of the race be very cautious entering Turn 1. This is the hardest part of the race, and can ruin your race before it has even started.

11. Always use your mirrors.

12. No chat is permitted in race or qualifying, arguments can be settled after the race. In-race chatting and non-pertinent TS comms will be punishable by post-race penalties.  If you want to communicate you can use TeamSpeak, but in Quali and Race this limited to comms pertaining to safety or server bug issues.

13. Are you a victim of an incident? Report it to the admins and we will work together to resolve the problem. A formal complaint can be made through a PM to any of the race Stewards (Chad Brown/Tig_Green)
Please include the lap of race, persons involved, and specific incident in question so the stewards can more easily review the replay and assess penalties as appropriate. To achive #3, reviewing or commenting incidents in public is not allowed.

14.  Penalties: As we don't have live stewards, penalties will be assessed after the race on a case by case basis. Penalties can include but are not limited to: time penalty (drive-through, 10 sec hold and go, 60 sec hold and go) assessed on next race, exclusion from results (DQ), exclusion from next race, warnings, banning from forum and/or future races, and ultimately expulsion from the league (the nuclear option).

15.  Red Flagging a race:  If there is a server issue or a connection issue that results in the race being cut off early, either a restart (if within the first half of the race and the connection comes back) or a red flag (no points before half race time or half points if after half race time) shall be called.  Listen to TS and watch the forums for updates should this occur.  Give it a few minutes to see if the issue is resolved.  TEAMSPEAK is the best way to get information.

16. Alternate drivers:  If you sign up, please try to attend all races.  But it is understood that stuff comes up and you can't always make every race.  If you can't make a race you may designate an alternate driver for your car (the alternate has to drive the same car as you and in the same livery) in advance for the that race and announce it in the race sign up thread up to 2 hours before the race.  An alternate will score full points for you in that race.  You can have an alternate in up to 2 races.

17. Championship car selection: When a driver signs up for the championship, he/she shall choose a car and stay with that car for the entire championship.  Switching to a different car shall impose a 5 point driver's championship penalty and that driver shall only score half points (individual and team) in the following race.   This can only be done 2 times maximum.

18. Causing a caution period: If you cause a yellow flag AND the safety car comes on track, you must pit to have damage checked.  If there is no damage, your car may leave the pit box with no work having been done.  Failure to do so will result in a post-race 1 minute stop and hold penalty to be applied (that penalty will be 60 secs + the approximate time it would take to stop and go for that track- to be determined by the race steward for each track).

19. Finishing under yellow- The finishing order will be the order in which the cars cross the finish line if the race finishes behind the safety car.  Sometimes the safety car will pit on the final lap after time is up in the race.  If the Safety Car pits and the race will finish over the finish line on that lap, the final order will be frozen to the order the cars were in behind the safety car.  It will be treated as though the race finished under yellow.

20. Pitting on the final lap- The finish line is defined (when a driver pits on the final lap only) as the pit exit line.

21. Points - Our points series' points system is as follows:

Finishing Position

First place - 10
Second - 8
Third - 6
Fourth - 5
Fifth - 4
Sixth - 3
Seventh - 2
Eighth - 1

Additional Points

2 points for the pole
1 point for starting a race
1 point for finishing race while completing at least 75% of leader laps.
