Changes coming to liveracers
« on: September 10, 2017, 06:07:17 am »
I have been made aware of changes coming to liveracers in the near future.

Quote
Your can currently experience all LiveRacers features, even though domain Virtual Racing Championship is on Lite subscription. However this offer will soon expire. Please ask Virtual Racing Championship admin to upgrade this subscription to continue this experience. For more information see Pricing

One of the major changes is the number of "Top laps" we can see at one time. Currently we can see the top laps of the fastest 50 drivers. Once the change comes this will be limited to the top 3 laps (Drivers). At least this is my understanding. If we subscribe to the liveracers service we will be bumped to the top 200 lap times.

Currently we also can see the results from every practice, qaul, and race we have done since the liveracers account was attached to the server. This will also end. Under the Lite (Free) account the Liveracers site will maintain only the race results for the past 7 days on the servers. All other sessions will be saved for 31 days. This is not nearly as big a deal as I initially thought as we can archive our qualification and race results using the fabulous Simresults.net service.

The subscription fee is $6.99 per month/PER SERVER. This to me seems a bit excessive. Here is the breakdown of the functions we will have on the Lite (Free) service versus the subscribed service:

http://virtualracingchampionship.liveracers.com/Support/Pricing#pricing

While I enjoy seeing how I rank against the rest of the participants this function is not paramount to the success of the league and as such I have no intention on spending $80.00 per year PER SERVER to know what each driver's fastest time is. (This is basically keeping track of hot lapping). I hope each of you understand my decision on this and hopefully we will be able to maintain our free account with as much of the functionality as we have come to expect from the service.

If you have any questions or concerns let me know. I don't know when this change will take effect.

I don't see why liveracers chose to make such a big difference between the lite and standard.  They could have chosen an extra, cheaper, intermediate subscription (less history, but more recent times).

As a slower driver I will miss the fact that it was easy to see how much time you lost in sectors and overall to certain competitors. Since Scott ea. are so much quicker, I mostly don't compare my times to theirs, but more to yours, Simon, Rick....  This I won't be able to do anymore, well not easily. We can go look into
Losing the history is not a big loss, but the times on the active server are.

Nevertheless, we will cope and I understand the decision since it's probably a big extra cost for a free of charge league.

Hey Chad, I see that the liveracer restrictions have kicked in.  One of the other leagues I raced with uses the Simracing League System (SLS), which I think is free and provides similar details to liveracer.  I don't know much about it but here is the link.

I'm a bit confused as to how to use/Download this program. Is there an English version of the Download site? I am a lazy american and only speak English.

Ok, after looking into the program a bit more I have figured out I need to run a program like wamp server to make my race server act like an http server with mysql and php. I have been working on this for a few hours now. I have wampserver installed and am having some issues installing the SLS program due to its need to have InnoDB enabled in the MySql in file of Wamp.

As it turns out I am not an IT network specialist so I am learning as I go. I am hoping to have this up and running by our next race. Here's to hoping.

Ok I think I have the program installed on the server through WAMP. However, I don't really know what to do from here. I'm tired and think I need to go to bed and sleep on it. Any IT Guru's out there offer some assistance?

Chad, so i double checked with the other league and they did use the SLS system for a while but have been using.

https://forum.studio-397.com/index.php?threads/live-timing-session-results-track-rendering-league-management-discontinued.37665/

This is a link to their rf2 live timing site:  http://liveviewer.p1-gaming.de/Stream.aspx

It looks like it has been discontinued, but it looks like if you contact the creator he may still help with the install and provide support.
