I also have a SC package. It came with my R9 290. I have since traded my Mustang Omega for a 300i. I have downloaded each new build as they have come out (around 30 GB per update). With each new build I find that I have desync issues and can't play. The last build seemed to take care of some of these issues, but I have found that the Microsoft 3D Pro joystick I have is problematic if I keep it connected to my Racing Rig after trying to use it in SC. I also keep losing the controller setup and have to try to figure out the mapping again.

Needless to say I am not confident I will ever see the game play I have been seeing in "Demo" videos. If it is a scam it has been incredibly well done, as people continue to give CIG their money. If the game turns into what they have been touting it should be AMAZING.... but I am dubious.
