PRACTICE SESSION WITH GT3 CARS TODAY
« on: December 13, 2017, 12:03:29 pm »
We have been planning a practice session with some of the European guys in our league for tonight.

We will be entering server "VRC GT3 Fun Run" tonight at 7 PM (GMT, see league clock). I will be there at 7:15 PM at latest. The plan is to have practice events at Abu Dhabi and at Valencia (these two tracks should be on the server atm). So we will do 15 practice, 10 min quali and 20 min race on both tracks. I hope I will see few of you there.

I thought this could be a great way to practice the new cars and track and meeting some of our members on track.

See you there!

-Matt

It was great to see the difference between the cars in race.
I would recommend making Abu Dhabi  a night race if it's selected. The glitch in the first corners of the first lap is horrendous.
Overtaking proved to be not that easy. It almost like F1 with the dirty air.
I still love the Bentley, especially at the start 😁but it's quite tricky and boaty.

What clitch are you referring to Joris? Only problem I had was that the whole track was a glowing nightmare. But the layout is great in terms that it's fun to drive (at least with these cars) and offers good overtaking opportunities. I'm sure F1 could also have good races here if they could just follow each other.

Valencia street track was fun too but it required quite a bit of practice to learn the layout. Street tracks are always a bit risky and I wonder how many would survive the whole long race. Short race was already really intense but it was one of the better races I've had for a while, good fun.

I drove with Bentley and the ffb was superb. It also seemed  that Bentley was pretty good going out of corners. Interesting thing was that I was way off the pace in quali but my race pace was much better. I had some really nice battles. There didn't seem to be too much top speed difference which made racing better.

I'm probably going to stick with Bentley for this first series with the gt3 mod as I already have a skin for it and not enough time to test the other cars.

Bentley is a good car Matt. I am just as fast in it as I am in the Vette, McLaren, and Mercedes. They are all just as fast as each other, but with different handling characteristics.

The lighting in general too shiny, but in the first few corners I couldn't see a thing. It was like a night lighting but inverted. I saw a bit of kerbs but couldn't tell how the corner went exactly. Once you get to the chicane, it was all ok.
I got it in qualifying and race, so it's probably a time of day issue with the track.

I've seen a video of all cars compared, and the difference between them was just 0.2sec.

Ok, for me it was bright everywhere but not so bad that I couldn't see track (dx11 version). But unless night is better or the author updates it, I wouldn't recommend using this track as we only want good quality tracks (also visually).

Found this video:

There is also setups in the description for McLaren, Radical and AMG.

What comparison video did you watch?

I can't seem to find it, but it was a racer that participatd in the WFG and the vid had split screens with all the cars and sometimes even shots of all the (ghost) cars at the same time, so you could see how he went round the corners. It really showed the different characteristics.

that edge on valencia bothered me a few times already, dont know why im not driving a wider line there.

my impression of the cars is however mostly matching with what that dude, from the video matt posted, says. the cornering speed of the mclaren is very good, but its straight line speed is a bit concerning especially in comparision with the bentley. i guess its one of the fastest cars over one lap, but might run into trouble later on.
